EV startup Simple Energy plans nationwide expansion in 2025

Simple Energy, a clean technology startup focused on electric two-wheelers, announced an ambitious expansion strategy for 2025, planning to open 150 new stores and 200 service centers across India. The company, which launched commercially in May 2023, currently operates in seven cities across five southern states and has completed over 1,500 vehicle deliveries.

The expansion comes amid a robust growth trajectory in India's electric two-wheeler market, which saw retail sales increase by 33% to 1.14 million units in 2024. Simple Energy will extend its presence to 23 states, including key markets in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Gujarat, targeting both metropolitan and tier 2 and 3 cities.

Suhas Rajkumar, the company's founder and CEO, emphasized that the expansion reflects customer confidence in their flagship model, the Simple One. The strategy aims to enhance accessibility to electric vehicles and create a comprehensive service infrastructure nationwide.

The company has already established a manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, and has raised $41 million through pre-series A and series A funding rounds from angel investors and family offices. Simple Energy's approach focuses on developing high-performance batteries and precision-engineered electric vehicles that prioritize reliability and sustainability.

This strategic expansion underscores the growing momentum of electric mobility in India, with startups like Simple Energy playing a crucial role in accelerating EV adoption across diverse urban and semi-urban markets.
