Elektrobit, a provider of embedded automotive software, announced today that it has signed a joint development agreement with Foxconn (Hon Hai Technology Group) to create EV.OS, a new AI-centric automotive software platform. The companies plan to support the automotive industry’s shift toward software-defined electric vehicles with this collaboration.
EV.OS will serve as a base software platform, including hardware and software components. The platform will support key automotive functions, simplify supply chains, and scale production for electric vehicles. It will also offer a reference E/E architecture and a basic EV operating system.
Once completed, EV.OS will enable real-time control units and service-oriented architectures across all functional areas. Development will use a continuous integration and testing environment and allow third-party applications through a semantic vehicle API.
Maria Anhalt, CEO of Elektrobit, said the partnership would help streamline vehicle development and reduce complexity. “By combining our software expertise with Foxconn’s hardware and manufacturing capabilities, we aim to make a scalable platform that supports new mobility business models,” she added.
