Eicher Trucks and Buses Expands Driver Health Initiative with Nationwide Medical Camps

Eicher Trucks and Buses, a division of VE Commercial Vehicles Limited, has conducted health checkup camps for truck drivers at more than 20 locations under its Eicher Highway Superheroes Program. The initiative, carried out in partnership with Dr. Shroff's Charity Eye Hospital, provided services to over 900 drivers across Andhra Pradesh, Delhi NCR, Haryana, Karnataka, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.

The camps offered comprehensive health screenings, eye examinations, and road safety training sessions. The program forms part of Eicher's broader driver wellbeing strategy, which the company positions as essential for road safety and operational efficiency in India's transportation sector.

"Truck and Bus drivers form the backbone of our logistics system," said Vinod Aggarwal, Managing Director and CEO of VECV. "Through the Eicher Highway Superheroes Program, we aim to provide drivers with access to essential health services, including eye care."

The Highway Superheroes Program, launched in 2016, currently operates 13 mobile eye and ear screening vans alongside a fixed facility in Delhi's Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar. The company has established partnerships with 10 hospitals, 2,500 transporters, and government transport departments across 11 states.

Since inception, the program has served over 270,000 drivers nationwide. Eicher's Driver Care Program benefits approximately 150,000 drivers annually through various health and training initiatives.

The company has also established the Phoenix-Eicher Institute of Driver Training and Research in Latur, Maharashtra, which provides professional driver training programs aimed at enhancing skills and competencies within the driver community.

The recent health camps represent Eicher's ongoing commitment to supporting India's commercial vehicle drivers through healthcare access and safety training, as part of the company's vision to modernize the country's trucking industry.
