VE Commercial Vehicles Limited has announced that its Eicher Pro X EV has become the first electric commercial vehicle to complete the Kashmir to Kanyakumari route while fully loaded, covering over 4,000 kilometers in six days.
The journey, which began in Srinagar on January 20 and concluded in Kanyakumari on January 26, has been recognized by the India Book of Records. The vehicle traveled through diverse terrain including the Himalayas, plains, the Deccan Plateau, and coastal routes.
An adjudicator from the India Book of Records accompanied the vehicle throughout the expedition, verifying route compliance, loading conditions, distance covered, and charging stops. The truck utilized public charging infrastructure accessible through the MyEicher App.
Vinod Aggarwal, managing director and chief executive of VE Commercial Vehicles, stated that the performance reinforces the company's focus on reliability and application excellence. The achievement follows more than four decades of operations in fuel-efficient commercial vehicles.
SS Gill, chief commercial officer, noted that the journey demonstrates electric mobility is viable beyond short-haul deliveries. The company operates through a service network and dealer setup across India.
The vehicle maintained consistent performance across varying altitudes and climatic conditions. According to company officials, the expedition was designed to demonstrate operational reliability under real-world freight conditions.
The company indicates the journey aligns with government initiatives promoting sustainable transportation and net-zero emissions targets. VE Commercial Vehicles is a joint venture between the Volvo Group and Eicher Motors Limited, established in 2008.
The Eicher Pro X EV is positioned for middle and last-mile logistics operations. Company representatives state the vehicle achieved its performance using existing charging infrastructure along highways and urban areas.
The records awarded by the India Book of Records include fastest time recorded by a commercially available electric truck on the Kashmir to Kanyakumari route, and first commercially available electric small truck to complete the journey under fully loaded conditions.
