Dolby Expands In-Car Entertainment Presence at Auto Shanghai 2025

Dolby Laboratories showcased its expanding automotive presence at Auto Shanghai 2025 today, with multiple manufacturers announcing new vehicles supporting the company's Vision HDR imaging and Atmos immersive sound technologies.

The company reported that over 25 automakers now support Dolby experiences in their vehicles, double the number from a year ago, as cars increasingly transform from transportation tools into entertainment spaces.

Several manufacturers unveiled new models with Dolby integration at the exhibition. Li Auto announced its 2025 Li MEGA Ultra and Li MEGA Home edition will support both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. ZEEKR revealed similar capabilities for its 009 Grand Collector's Edition, while WEY, ONVO, firefly, Changan Mazda, and Cadillac introduced models featuring Dolby Atmos.

"Chinese consumers truly care about entertainment quality. Our auto partners have showcased tremendous energy in adopting new innovations," said Javier Foncillas, Vice President of Commercial Partnerships and Global Sales at Dolby Laboratories.

A study conducted by Counterpoint in April 2025 found that 97% of car owners in China are aware of Dolby technologies. The research, which surveyed over 1,200 car owners, indicated that four in five respondents believe Dolby experiences improve entertainment quality, and nine in ten potential car buyers expressed interest in models featuring Dolby technologies.

During a media event at the company's "Dolby House" experience hub, Jing Tang, President of Flagship Products at Li Auto, noted that his company was the first automaker globally to offer combined Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos experiences. "By integrating Dolby innovations and various streaming services that support Dolby, we have transformed cars into concert halls on wheels," Tang said.

Chinese consumers can now access Dolby-enhanced content in vehicles through major streaming platforms including QQ Music, NetEase Cloud Music, Kugou, Ximalaya, iQIYI, Tencent Video, and bilibili.

Dolby Laboratories, headquartered in San Francisco, has been a pioneer in audio and visual technology since its founding in 1965. The company's Dolby Atmos technology, first introduced for cinema in 2012, creates a three-dimensional sound field that has since expanded beyond theaters into home entertainment systems, mobile devices, and now vehicles. Dolby Vision, launched in 2014, is the company's high dynamic range imaging technology that enhances contrast, brightness, and color compared to standard displays.

The automotive integration represents a significant expansion of Dolby's business beyond its traditional entertainment industry focus, as vehicles increasingly incorporate advanced media systems and consumers spend more time consuming entertainment on the road.
