Daimler Trucks Establishes Global Defense Brand

Daimler Truck AG has established a dedicated global brand, designated as Daimler Truck Defence, to consolidate its military mobility and logistics operations under a single corporate structure. The structural realignment transitions the business from its historical reliance on the Mercedes-Benz Trucks lineup to a broader model that integrates vehicles and component platforms from across the parent group's international brand portfolio. To support this defense framework, the multinational manufacturer plans to deploy a 'mid-three-digit million-euro investment' over the coming years to expand its specialized engineering, manufacturing, sales, and service capacities. The long-term commercial roadmap targets the generation of 1 billion euros in annual defense-related revenue by 2028.

The strategic pivot aims to capitalize on rising international demand for standardized military vehicle fleets and associated lifecycle sustainment programs. The company's European defense manufacturing network will remain anchored at its primary assembly plants in Wörth am Rhein, Germany, and Molsheim, France. Additionally, the operational blueprint includes provisions to establish local assembly lines for militarized Mercedes-Benz trucks within specific purchasing nations to meet regional industrial localization mandates.

The expansion program is anticipated to influence industrial employment, particularly at the Wörth site, which coordinates the group's global defense logistics strategy and requires additional specialized technical personnel. Approximately 1,000 employees are currently engaged across the company's defense operations. On the service and support side, the division intends to utilize Daimler Truck’s established commercial network, which comprises roughly 5,000 service locations across more than 160 countries, to manage spare-parts logistics and secure high operational readiness for deployed fleets.
