CV Sales Reaches 99,666 Units on Rural Freight Momentum: FADA

Commercial vehicle retail sales grew 24.04% year on year in July 2026 to 99,666 units, nearing the one-lakh mark in its best-ever July performance, according to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA). Sequentially, registrations rose 4.94% over June 2026.

Rural Freight Demand Drives LCV and HCV Growth

Growth was led by rural markets, which grew 29.37% year on year compared to 19.36% in urban regions. Light commercial vehicles expanded 27.65% to 61,634 units, medium commercial vehicles rose 25.00% to 9,925 units, and heavy commercial vehicles climbed 16.72% to 28,070 units. Heavy commercial vehicles recorded a 13.00% sequential rise over June, supported by core sector transport in steel, cement, and mining.

Tata Motors Leads CV Market Share Ahead of Mahindra, Ashok Leyland

Tata Motors led the commercial vehicle segment with 34,733 units and a 34.85% market share. Mahindra & Mahindra followed with 26,055 units for a 26.14% share, while Ashok Leyland recorded 17,691 units to capture 17.75% of the market
