Cityflo, Project Mumbai Launch Mini Libraries on Select Buses

Cityflo has partnered with Project Mumbai to launch ‘Turning Pages’, a pilot initiative that will place curated collections of books on select Cityflo buses, allowing commuters to read, borrow and exchange books during their daily journeys.

The initiative is part of Project Mumbai’s ‘Read Mumbai’ movement, which seeks to promote reading across the city. The partners said the programme is intended to provide commuters with an opportunity to spend part of their journey reading instead of using digital devices.

As part of the pilot, participating buses will carry books across genres including fiction, business, self-development, biographies and contemporary Indian writing. Commuters can select books to read during their journey, while also donating books and recommending titles for other passengers.

Sankalp Kelshikar, CMO and co-founder of Cityflo, said the initiative aims to use commuting time to encourage reading and give passengers access to a range of books and ideas. He added that commuters can contribute to the collection through book donations.

Shishir Joshi, CEO and founder of Project Mumbai, said the collaboration brings together commuters, partnerships and citizen participation as part of the organisation’s efforts to promote community-led initiatives.

Founded in 2015, Cityflo operates more than 1,200 buses and provides 18 million rides annually across Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Kolkata, according to the company.

Project Mumbai is a not-for-profit organisation founded in 2018 that works with citizens, government and private institutions on initiatives related to urban challenges, including mobility, waste management and disaster relief. 
