Cityflo and abcoffee Launch India's First Onboard Coffee Service for City Buses
Passengers can now pre-order beverages through the Cityflo app and have them delivered to their seats.
Mumbai-based urban mobility service Cityflo has partnered with coffee brand abcoffee to introduce a pilot program that allows bus passengers to order beverages and have them delivered directly to their seats during their commute.
The service, launched in October 2025 on select routes in Mumbai, enables passengers to place orders through the Cityflo app while waiting at bus stops or during their journey. The initiative aims to address convenience gaps in urban commuting, particularly for passengers dealing with long travel times and rushed schedules.
According to Rushabh Shah, Chief Business Officer at Cityflo, the service draws inspiration from pre-booking options available on flights and trains. "With this pilot, we're bringing the convenience and comfort of a café into the bus, making waiting, traveling, and arriving smoother, and maybe a little more enjoyable too," Shah stated.
The partnership leverages abcoffee's specialty-grade coffee and grab-and-go service model to handle the beverage experience from order placement to delivery. Passengers can select items from a curated menu without needing to make additional stops or wait in queues.
Abhijeet Anand, Founder and CEO of abcoffee, described the collaboration as an effort to improve daily commuting experiences. "When we looked at how thousands of Cityflo riders spend over an hour each day commuting, we saw an opportunity to make that time more human, more delightful," Anand said. He characterized the initiative as India's first food and beverage solution for land-based transit.
The pilot program forms part of Cityflo's broader strategy to expand beyond basic transportation services and develop what the company describes as a "multi-layered mobility ecosystem." Cityflo positions itself as offering professional drivers, punctual service, and clean vehicles.
The pilot is scheduled to run for one month before potential expansion to additional routes in Mumbai. The companies plan to introduce more menu options in future phases if the initial rollout proves successful.
