Citroen Basalt Turbo priced between Rs 11.49 lakh and Rs 13.62 lakh
The Basalt automatic is available in two variants.
Citroen India has announced the complete price list for the Basalt. The coupe-SUV is priced between Rs 7.99 lakh (as had been revealed earlier) and Rs 13.62 lakh. As we had reported earlier, the Basalt is available with naturally aspirated petrol and turbo-petrol engine options, with the latter getting an automatic gearbox option. Deliveries will commence from the first week of September.
The Basalt with the 82hp, 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine comes in the entry-level You variant (Rs 7.99 lakh), and the mid-spec Plus trim (Rs 9.99 lakh) Meanwhile, the 110hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol range consists of the Plus trim (starts at Rs 11.49 lakh) and Max variant (priced from Rs 12.28 lakh). A 6-speed torque convertor automatic is offered with both turbo-petrol trims for an additional Rs 1.3-1.34 lakh amount.
Citroen has also revealed that a dual-tone finish is available only with the top-spec Max variants, for an outlay of Rs 21,000.
Bookings for the Basalt had opened on August 9 for a Rs 11,001 amount, and test drives have commenced from today. Compared to rivals in the midsize SUV segment — from the Creta to the Grand Vitara, which are priced from about Rs 11 lakh, with top-spec variants going beyond the Rs 20 lakh mark), the Citroen Basalt comes across as a very competitively priced product.
The top-spec Basalt Max variant features a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital instrument cluster, auto climate control, six airbags, ESC, a rear camera and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Citroen has ensured that the Basalt is well enough differentiated from the C3 Aircross, which is available around the same price point.
