ChargeZone and Tata.ev Open 720 kW Charging Hub on Mumbai–Pune Expressway
The jointly operated Khalapur facility, the 75th hub under the two companies' partnership, can serve up to ten electric vehicles simultaneously on the highway corridor.
ChargeZone and Tata.ev have inaugurated a co-branded Mega Charging Hub at Khalapur, located at the foodmall on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway. The facility carries a total installed capacity of 720 kW and is equipped with five dispensers offering ten charging points, capable of delivering up to 360 kW in boost mode. The hub represents the 75th installation under the ongoing partnership between the two companies, which has set a target of deploying more than 100 such hubs along national highway corridors.
The Khalapur location is positioned at a well-trafficked highway rest stop that includes dining outlets, parking, and retail facilities, allowing EV drivers to attend to other needs during charging stops. Tata.ev customers are eligible for a discount of up to 25 percent at the station. The hub is designed to accommodate up to ten vehicles charging at the same time, which the companies say will help reduce wait times during periods of high traffic on the expressway.
Kartikey Hariyani, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of ChargeZone, described highway charging infrastructure as "the backbone of intercity electrification" and said the Khalapur hub "sets a new benchmark for public charging infrastructure in the country." Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said the collaboration was part of a broader effort to "co-create a charging network that is fast, reliable, and accessible," noting that the company now has over 200 active Tata.ev Mega Charging Hubs operating across India.
ChargeZone operates more than 15,000 charging points across 1,200-plus locations in India and the UAE. The company, headquartered in Vadodara, Gujarat, focuses on high-speed, smart-grid-enabled charging for passenger cars, buses, and trucks. Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., part of the Tata Group, is India's largest manufacturer of four-wheeler electric vehicles.
