ChargeZone, India's largest electric vehicle charging network, has acquired the complete charging station network from Fresh Bus, an intercity electric bus operator, to strengthen its presence in southern India and advance its nationwide supercharging infrastructure for electric buses.
The acquisition adds strategically located charging stations in key southern cities including Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Mysore, Tirupati, Guntur, and Visakhapatnam. Fresh Bus operates intercity electric bus services connecting these cities and plans to expand its fleet to over 5,000 electric buses within five years.
Under the partnership, Fresh Bus will receive priority access to the charging facilities to maintain uninterrupted operations, while the stations will also serve other electric vehicle fleets to increase utilization. The collaboration includes plans to integrate renewable energy sources at charging locations in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, and Vijayawada.
Kartikey Hariyani, founder and CEO of ChargeZone, said the partnership represents a step toward building India's largest intercity supercharging network for electric buses. He emphasized the company's focus on creating reliable, accessible charging infrastructure that supports long-distance electric travel.
Fresh Bus founder Sudhakar Reddy noted that the company has worked with ChargeZone since 2023 and expects the partnership to improve operational efficiency through better management of charging facilities under dedicated surveillance.
ChargeZone currently operates over 13,500 charging points across 1,200 locations in India and the UAE. The company aims to establish one million charging points as part of its expansion strategy to support India's growing electric vehicle ecosystem.
Fresh Bus positions itself as a leading all-electric intercity bus service, offering zero-emission travel with features including air-conditioned cabins, real-time tracking, and enhanced safety measures.
The company focuses on connecting major cities while providing what it describes as a premium travel experience.
The partnership aligns with broader efforts to develop charging infrastructure for commercial electric vehicles in India, where the government has promoted electric mobility adoption through various policy initiatives and incentives for both manufacturers and operators.
