ChargePoint Opens R&D Center in Bengaluru in Partnership with HCLTech

ChargePoint, a major EV charging solutions provider, partnered with HCLTech to open a software development center in Bengaluru on February 6, 2025, expanding its technology operations in India.

The new research and development facility will focus on developing EV charging software solutions, with HCLTech providing engineering support through an agile development model.

ChargePoint CEO Rick Wilmer highlighted India's importance to the company's software development strategy during the center's inauguration. HCLTech's Chief Growth Officer Ajay Bahl emphasized the partnership's role in advancing sustainable mobility solutions.

The collaboration comes as India's EV charging infrastructure market experiences rapid growth, with government initiatives supporting electric vehicle adoption. ChargePoint operates one of the largest EV charging networks globally, while HCLTech brings expertise in technology services and digital solutions.

The partnership reflects increasing investment in India's EV ecosystem, as global companies leverage the country's technology talent pool. The EV charging infrastructure market has seen significant expansion as automakers introduce more electric vehicles and governments worldwide push for transportation electrification.
