CASE Construction Equipment has launched Project Shilpi, a corporate social responsibility initiative designed to train unemployed youth in backhoe loader servicing and maintenance. The program was announced on July 17, 2025, in New Delhi.
The three-month training program targets unemployed individuals from economically weaker sections, particularly graduates of Industrial Training Institutes and diploma holders aged 18 and above. The initiative addresses what the company identifies as a shortage of skilled technicians in the construction equipment servicing sector.
Project Shilpi follows a blended learning approach that includes an initial boot camp, 26 hours of online theoretical instruction, and 520 hours of hands-on practical training. Participants receive industry exposure through regular interface with professionals and complete third-party external assessment for certification.
Upon completion, trainees gain skills in operating, maintaining, and servicing backhoe loaders, along with knowledge of safety protocols, environmental compliance, and customer communication. The program aims to create what the company describes as a "job-ready talent pool" of certified technicians.
Kavita Sah, India CSR Head at CNH, stated that the project addresses a gap in the construction equipment industry while supporting participants in achieving economic independence. The initiative aligns with the government's Skill India Mission and supports United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 8 and 10, which focus on economic growth and reducing inequalities.
