BYD Crosses 3 Lakh Global BEV Sales for First Time: Report

BYD recorded factory dispatches of 305,743 battery-electric passenger vehicles in October 2026, marking the first time the EV maker has surpassed the 300,000-unit monthly threshold for fully electric models, according to data reported by Electrive.

The monthly volume represents a 37.4 percent year-on-year increase and an 11.9 percent sequential growth over September 2026, marking the third consecutive month of record battery-electric dispatches.

Across all powertrain types, total global dispatches reached over 490,000 vehicles in October 2026, expanding approximately 11 percent year-on-year and 5.7 percent month-on-month.

Plug-in hybrid vehicle dispatches contracted 17.2 percent year-on-year to 177,382 units. Brand-wise, the core BYD line recorded 423,843 sales, followed by Fangchengbao at 43,872 units, Denza at 15,152 units, and Yangwang at 258 units.

International shipments continued to serve as a key growth driver, with exports doubling year-on-year to 170,194 vehicles, accounting for approximately 35 percent of total monthly sales. Sequentially, exports fell 6 percent from September. Conversely, domestic dispatches within China dropped 10.6 percent year-on-year to 319,974 vehicles, though recovering 13.1 percent month-on-month.

For the January to October 2026 period, cumulative global dispatches of new energy vehicles stood at 3,621,744 units, down 2.16 percent compared to the corresponding ten months of the previous year. Cumulative battery-electric passenger vehicle sales grew 5.86 percent year-to-date to 1,935,700 units, while plug-in hybrid dispatches fell 11.02 percent to 1,625,969 units. Cumulative export dispatches reached 1,513,154 vehicles, representing a 93.75 percent year-on-year expansion.
