Bosch announced plans to invest more than 2.5 billion euros in artificial intelligence development by the end of 2027, positioning AI as a key growth driver for the German technology company. The investment strategy focuses on AI-based solutions for assisted and automated driving, with the company targeting sales of well over 10 billion euros by 2035 in this sector.
The Stuttgart-based company revealed its AI strategy during Bosch Tech Day 2025, outlining how artificial intelligence will accelerate innovation across multiple business areas including manufacturing, automotive technology, and consumer products.
"The breakthroughs in AI make it possible to open up completely new chapters in technology, accelerate the development of innovations, and turn these into business," said Stefan Hartung, chairman of the Bosch board of management.
Bosch has established itself as an early adopter of AI technology, filing more than 1,500 patent applications for AI-related inventions over the past five years. This positions the company among the leading patent applicants in Europe for artificial intelligence innovations.
The company's AI applications span automated driving systems, where the technology enables vehicles to visualize surroundings and plan routes while anticipating other road users' behavior. Bosch expects sales of software, sensor technology, high-performance computers, and network components to double by the mid-2030s to well over 10 billion euros.
In manufacturing operations, Bosch is implementing agentic AI systems capable of making independent decisions and executing actions. These multi-agent systems monitor manufacturing devices, predict maintenance requirements, and optimize personnel scheduling, resulting in reduced unplanned downtime and increased overall productivity.
"Agentic AI can give a boost to AI similar to the one the smartphone gave the internet," said Tanja Rueckert, member of the Bosch board of management. The company plans to make its agentic AI platform available to other companies beginning in fall 2025, enabling them to create multi-agent systems with minimal programming knowledge.
Beyond industrial applications, Bosch integrates AI into consumer products including the Revol crib for monitoring children's vital signs, e-bike range control systems, and Series 8 ovens that recognize approximately 80 dishes and automatically adjust cooking parameters.
The company has trained over 65,000 associates through its internal AI Academy since 2019, with nearly 5,000 AI specialists currently developing intelligent solutions. According to the Bosch Tech Compass, four out of five respondents worldwide plan to pursue AI training, with 72 percent of Germans believing AI will be the dominant technology of the next decade in their country.
Bosch operates as a global technology supplier with approximately 418,000 associates worldwide and generated sales of 90.3 billion euros in 2024. The company's operations span four business sectors: Mobility, Industrial Technology, Consumer Goods, and Energy and Building Technology.
