BorgWarner Wins Turbocharger Supply Contracts From European OEM
The contracts cover passenger car and van programmes across gasoline and diesel platforms, with production scheduled to begin in phases between 2026 and 2029.
BorgWarner has secured multiple turbocharger supply contracts from a major European original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for passenger car and van applications, with production planned between the second quarter of 2026 and the second quarter of 2029.
The awards include extensions of existing programmes as well as a new contract win with the unnamed European customer. The company said the programmes span both gasoline and diesel powertrains and will use a range of turbocharging technologies, including variable turbine geometry (VTG), twin-scroll wastegate and regulated two-stage systems.
According to BorgWarner, the contracts are aimed at supporting vehicle performance, fuel economy and emissions requirements across different combustion engine applications.
The turbochargers for the awarded programmes will be manufactured at BorgWarner’s facilities in Rzeszów, Poland, and Kirchheimbolanden, Germany. The company said the programmes will involve high-volume production and phased launches over the next few years.
BorgWarner’s turbocharging business continues to focus on combustion engine applications even as the wider automotive industry transitions toward electrification. The company said demand for efficiency-focused combustion technologies remains across several global markets and vehicle segments.
