The Bus and Car Operators Confederation of India (BOCI), the apex body representing passenger transport operators across the country, has announced its new National Committee for a three-year term. The key members of the committee include Prasanna Patwardhan as National President, A. Afzal as National Vice President, Dharmaraj D.R. as General Secretary, Harsh Kotak as Treasurer, and Babu Panikar as Additional Secretary.

Patwardhan, who has been re-elected as National President, expressed his gratitude for the continued trust and support from the members. In his address, he emphasized the need for the passenger transport sector to adapt to changing mobility requirements. He noted that public transport is a crucial element of sustainable and inclusive mobility, contributing to the vision of “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India). Under his leadership, BOCI aims to enhance public transport accessibility, efficiency, and last-mile connectivity.

The organisation outlined its focus for the next three years, highlighting efforts to drive innovation, foster collaborations, and build international partnerships. These initiatives are designed to ensure that the passenger transport sector remains aligned with global trends and industry advancements. Additionally, BOCI plans to address key challenges faced by the sector, including regulatory issues, taxation, and infrastructure development.

A significant part of BOCI’s agenda will be to promote the adoption of sustainable transport solutions, including electric vehicles (EVs), and improve last-mile connectivity. Through these efforts, BOCI aims to improve operational efficiencies and create a more sustainable and resilient transport ecosystem for both operators and passengers.

Founded in 2016, BOCI has been actively working to resolve challenges within the transport sector and advocate for policies that support its growth. The confederation is committed to fostering innovation and collaboration to drive positive change in the passenger transport industry.
