BMW Launches New X3 Petrol Variant in India at ₹74.5 Lakh

BMW Group India launched the X3 30 xDrive M Sport Pro in India on 16 February 2026, priced at ₹74,50,000 ex-showroom. The vehicle is produced at BMW Group's Plant Chennai and is available for booking at dealerships across the country.

The new variant sits above the existing X3 xDrive 20 petrol and xDrive 20d diesel in the model's lineup. It is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 258 hp and 400 Nm of torque, and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds.

The earlier petrol variant produces 204 hp, making this a notable step up in output. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, and is supported by a 48V mild-hybrid system intended to improve responsiveness and fuel efficiency.

The car measures 4,755 mm in length with a 2,865 mm wheelbase, which BMW states makes it the longest vehicle in its segment. Standard equipment includes 20-inch alloy wheels, adaptive LED headlights, adaptive suspension with electronically controlled dampers, and M Sport brakes. The exterior features a blacked-out grille with ambient lighting and high-gloss black trim elements throughout.

Inside, the cabin uses a curved display comprising a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch touchscreen, running BMW's Operating System 9. The seats are upholstered in Veganza, a synthetic leather made from recycled materials. A panoramic sunroof, a Harman Kardon audio system with 15 speakers and 750 watts of output, and a head-up display are included as standard.

On the safety front, the X3 30 xDrive M Sport Pro comes with eight airbags, active cruise control with stop-and-go function, lane departure warning, lane-keep assist, and a parking system with surround-view cameras and automated parking capability.

The vehicle is available in five exterior colours — Brooklyn Grey Metallic, Dune Grey Metallic, Alpine White, Individual Tanzanite Blue, and Black Sapphire Metallic — with two interior upholstery options. BMW India Financial Services is offering a financing plan with an assured buyback at the end of the loan tenure.

The X3 competes in India's premium mid-size SUV segment alongside models such as the Mercedes-Benz GLC, Audi Q5, and Volvo XC60. The segment has seen increased activity in recent years as automakers expand locally assembled options to manage import duties and pricing.

BMW has produced vehicles at its Chennai plant since 2007, and local assembly allows the company to offer more competitive pricing than fully imported alternatives.

Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO of BMW Group India, said the new variant was aimed at customers seeking a higher level of performance within the X3 range.
