BMW India Introduces Uniform Pricing for i7 Electric Sedan Across All Locations
German automaker eliminates registration cost differences nationwide for luxury electric vehicle priced at INR 2.05 crore, absorbing regional variations itself
BMW India has announced a uniform pricing structure for its flagship electric sedan, the BMW i7, removing regional variations in registration costs across the country. The company will absorb registration fees regardless of where customers choose to register their vehicles, with the current ex-showroom price set at INR 2.05 crore.
The pricing initiative covers registration charges and GST, including compensation cess as applicable, while excluding Tax Collected at Source, other local taxes, and insurance. The offer applies exclusively to the BMW i7 and is available through all authorized BMW dealerships in India.
Vikram Pawah, President and CEO of BMW Group India, stated that the company views electric mobility as a comprehensive concept and aims to lead the luxury electric vehicle segment. He emphasized that the uniform pricing ensures equality for customers regardless of their registration location while encouraging electric vehicle adoption.
The BMW i7 represents the company's first all-electric luxury sedan, combining electric drivetrain technology with traditional luxury features. The vehicle includes BMW's Interaction Bar in the cockpit design and Live Cockpit Professional with a curved display featuring navigation and real-time traffic information.
Interior features include Executive Lounge Seating with 42.5-degree reclining capability, multifunction seats, massage function, and seat ventilation. The rear section offers entertainment through BMW Theatre Screen, while My Modes allows customization of sound, lighting, temperature, and suspension settings.
The vehicle incorporates BMW ConnectedDrive technology, which includes BMW ID, MyBMW App, Digital Key Plus, Emergency Call, Real-time Traffic Information, Remote Services, smartphone parking, and Amazon Fire TV connectivity. Driver assistance systems include Cruise Control, Attentiveness Assistant, Parking Assistant Professional with remote smartphone parking, and Reversing Assistant with Steering and Lane Control Assistant.
Technical specifications show the fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology in the i7 eDrive50 variant produces 449 horsepower and 650 Nm maximum torque. The vehicle accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and offers a range of up to 603 kilometers under WLTP testing conditions.
BMW Group has been expanding its electric vehicle portfolio in India as part of the global automotive industry's transition toward electrification. The luxury vehicle segment has seen increased competition among manufacturers introducing electric alternatives to traditional combustion engine vehicles.
The uniform pricing strategy addresses a longstanding issue in India's automotive market where registration costs vary significantly between states, affecting the final price customers pay for vehicles. This variation often influences purchase decisions and dealer selection based on location rather than service quality or convenience.
