BMW i5 LWB Launched In India At Rs 79.6 Lakh, 669km Range

BMW i5 LWB has launched in India at Rs 79.6 lakh, with an 81.6kWh battery, 669km MIDC range and 268hp electric motor.

BMW India has launched the i5 Long Wheelbase (LWB) in India at an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs 79.6 lakh. The electric sedan is locally produced at BMW Group Plant Chennai, with deliveries beginning immediately. Bookings are open through BMW dealerships and the company's website.

The BMW i5 LWB is available in the eDrive35L M Sport variant, while the First Edition is also priced at Rs 79.6 lakh. The First Edition is limited to 99 units, all of which were sold before the model's official launch.

The i5 LWB uses an 81.6kWh battery and has a claimed range of up to 669km under the MIDC test cycle. It produces 268hp and 410Nm of torque, with a claimed 0-100kph acceleration time of 6.7 seconds and a top speed of 195kph.

BMW i5 LWB Price In India

The BMW i5 eDrive35L M Sport is priced at Rs 79.6 lakh ex-showroom. The First Edition is available at the same price. Ex-showroom pricing includes applicable GST but excludes road tax, TCS, RTO statutory charges, local taxes and insurance.

BMW is also offering a finance plan for the i5 LWB with monthly instalments starting at Rs 79,999 and an assured buyback value of 55% after a four-year tenure, according to the company.

BMW i5 LWB Dimensions And Interior

The BMW i5 LWB measures 5,175mm in length, 2,156mm in width and 1,520mm in height, with a 3,105mm wheelbase. The cabin features a 12.3-inch information display and a 14.9-inch control display integrated into the BMW Curved Display.
The sedan gets vegan upholstery as standard, with comfort seats featuring front-seat ventilation. Rear-seat equipment includes enhanced cushioning and support, while a Sky Lounge panoramic glass sunroof and four-zone air conditioning are also standard. A Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system is included.

The First Edition adds a rear-seat entertainment package with a tablet and tablet holder, BMW Individual Silver Bronze accents, Fineline open-pored fine-wood trim and a 'FIRST EDITION' laser engraving. It is offered with a Carbon Black Metallic exterior and Titanium Bronze exterior accents.

BMW i5 LWB Battery, Range And Performance

The i5 eDrive35L uses a single electric motor, single-speed transmission and integrated power electronics. The motor produces 268hp and 410Nm, while the 81.6kWh battery provides a claimed MIDC range of up to 669km.

The car supports DC fast charging at up to 160kW, with BMW claiming a 10-80 percent charging time of 33 minutes. An 11kW BMW Wallbox charger, including installation, is offered with the vehicle.

For Indian road conditions, the i5 LWB gets adaptive rear-axle air suspension and enhanced ground clearance. The suspension setup is paired with 20-inch alloy wheels with a mixed tyre configuration and wider rear profiles.

BMW i5 LWB Features And Safety

The i5 LWB runs BMW Operating System 8.5 and includes the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, Remote Software Upgrades and MyBMW App functionality. Digital Key Plus allows compatible smartphones or smartwatches to be used as a vehicle key, while wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also available.

Driver assistance features include Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Parking Assistant Professional, Remote Parking, Manoeuvring Assistant, Reverse Assistant, Lane Change Warning, Cross Traffic Warning and Front and Rear Collision Warning.

The BMW i5 LWB comes with eight airbags, Dynamic Stability Control, an electric parking brake with auto hold, side-impact protection, an electronic vehicle immobiliser with crash sensor and child-seat mounting. The standard vehicle warranty is two years with unlimited kilometres, while the high-voltage battery is covered for eight years or 160,000km.
