BMW Group India reports strong Q1 performance, sales up by 51%

BMW Group India has announced its sales figures for Q1 of 2024 (January – March). During this period, BMW Group India delivered a total of 3,680 cars (comprising BMW and MINI brands) and 1,810 motorcycles (under the BMW Motorrad brand). Of these, BMW sold 3,510 units, while MINI contributed 170 units to the overall sales.

The Q1 performance reflects a 51% growth in car sales (combined BMW and MINI), driven by strong demand for Sports Activity Vehicles (SAVs), Luxury Class models, and Electric Vehicles (EVs). Notably, models such as the BMW X7, BMW X3, BMW X1, and BMW 3 Series witnessed high demand and were sold out during this period.

Vikram Pawah, President of BMW Group India shared “BMW Group India has posted strong performance in the first quarter of the year. Breaking earlier records, Q1 car sales achieved new heights with successful growth of +51%. Our firm leadership in the luxury electric car market remains undisputed thanks to the most diverse range of products. The exclusive BMW Luxury Class has also assumed a segment-leading position. Our key car models are at the top of their game and with significant new launches in the pipeline, we will raise the heat in luxury market.”

BMW Group Electric Vehicles maintained their leadership position in the luxury segment in Q1 2024, with a total of 211 units delivered, reflecting 26% growth compared to the same period last year. The BMW i7 emerged as the top-selling EV. The comprehensive range of luxury EVs, including the BMW iX, BMW i4, and MINI SE, contributed to the growing demand among customers. Additionally, the upcoming launch of the BMW i5 is expected to further enhance the EV portfolio.

In the Luxury Class segment, BMW witnessed significant growth, with a 152% increase in sales. Models such as the BMW 7 Series, BMW i7, BMW X7, and BMW XM played a pivotal role, contributing to 20% of total sales. The BMW X7 SAV emerged as the top-selling Luxury Class model during this period, the company shared.

BMW Sports Activity Vehicles (SAVs) continued to drive sales, constituting 54% of total sales and registering a robust 62% growth. Locally produced SAV models played a key role in this performance, with the new X1 emerging as the highest-selling SAV, capturing around 20% of total sales.

The BMW 3 Series maintained its position as the highest-selling sedan, commanding a 16% share of total sales.
