BMW Group India recorded its highest first-half sales in 2025, delivering 7,774 BMW and MINI cars between January and June. The company also sold 2,569 motorcycles during the same period.
BMW accounted for 7,477 units of the total car sales, while MINI contributed 297 units. The second quarter saw each month achieving record sales figures.
Electric Vehicle Sales
BMW Group India maintained its position as the leading luxury electric vehicle brand in India for the third consecutive year. The company sold 1,322 electric vehicles in H1 2025, representing a 234% increase compared to the same period last year.
Electric vehicles now account for 18% of BMW Group India's total sales. The BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase was the top-selling electric model, followed by the BMW i7.
The company offers six electric cars and two scooters: BMW i7, BMW iX, BMW i5, BMW i4, BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase, MINI Countryman E, BMW CE 04, and BMW CE 02.
Long Wheelbase Models Drive Growth
Long wheelbase BMW models experienced 159% growth in H1 2025, capturing 47% of total sales. This category includes the BMW 7 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW 3 Series, and BMW iX1.
The BMW 5 Series was the highest-selling BMW sedan with approximately 20% share of total sales. The BMW 3 Series retained its leading position in India's premium sedan segment.
Vikram Pawah, President and CEO of BMW Group India, stated that the company achieved 10% growth despite market challenges, with electric mobility and long wheelbase models driving performance.
BMW Sports Activity Vehicles recorded 17% growth in H1 2025. Their share of total sales increased from 56% in Q1 to 59% in Q2.
The BMW X1 was the top-selling SAV, accounting for over 30% of BMW's sales and leading the Indian premium compact segment. The BMW X5 was the second most popular SAV model.
MINI delivered 297 units in H1 2025, with the MINI Cooper S leading sales and growing over 60% compared to H1 2024. The MINI Cooper S and MINI Countryman E held nearly equal market shares.
BMW Motorrad sold 2,569 motorcycles. The BMW G 310 RR was the most popular model in the small-cc category. In the adventure segment, the BMW 900 GS/GSA and BMW 1300 GS/GSA were top sellers, while the BMW S 1000 RR led the super sports category.
BMW Group India launched Retail.NEXT, a retail transformation initiative requiring an investment of Rs 365.6 crores. The program will be implemented across 56 facilities in 33 cities, introducing new design concepts, digital tools, and processes.
