BMW 7 Series And i7 Facelifts To Launch In India On September 11

BMW will launch the facelifted 7 Series and i7 in India on September 11, 2026. Bookings for both models opened on August 1, following their global debut. The mid-cycle update brings exterior styling changes, a revised cabin and updates to the petrol, diesel and electric powertrains.

The updated 7 Series and i7 retain the overall proportions of the current models but receive a redesigned front end. Changes include an updated illuminated kidney grille, revised split LED headlamps and a redesigned front bumper. New alloy wheel designs have also been added, while the rear gets slimmer smoked-lens tail-lamps and revised detailing to the tailgate and bumper.

BMW 7 Series, i7 get Panoramic iDrive cabin

The facelifted 7 Series and i7 adopt BMW’s latest Panoramic iDrive system. It replaces the conventional instrument cluster with a full-width projection display positioned at the base of the windscreen. The system works alongside a 17.9-inch central touchscreen and a 14.6-inch front passenger display.

The system runs BMW Operating System X and supports over-the-air updates, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with improved voice controls. The dashboard has also been redesigned and paired with a new four-spoke steering wheel inspired by BMW’s Neue Klasse models.

Standard equipment includes electrically adjustable front seats with heating, ventilation, massage and lumbar support. The front passenger seat can move forward to increase rear legroom. At the rear, both models continue with the 31.3-inch 8K Theatre Screen, while the rear door controls have been revised. A Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system and additional ambient lighting are also available.

BMW 7 Series, i7 powertrain updates

BMW has not yet confirmed the India-spec variant line-up. The current 7 Series is sold in India in 740i petrol and 740d diesel forms, while the i7 is available in eDrive50 and M70 xDrive specifications.

Globally, the updated 740i xDrive continues with a 3.0-litre inline-six petrol engine paired with a mild-hybrid system. Output rises to 400hp and 580Nm, up by 19hp and 60Nm respectively. The 740d xDrive now produces 313hp and 670Nm, an increase of 27hp and 20Nm. Both variants continue with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

On the electric side, BMW has replaced the i7 eDrive50 with the i7 xDrive50, adding all-wheel drive and a larger 112.4kWh battery, up from 101.7kWh. The updated model produces 455hp and 660Nm.

The range-topping i7 M70 xDrive also receives the larger battery, while output increases from 650hp to 680hp. Torque rises from 1,015Nm to as much as 1,100Nm. BMW is yet to confirm whether the updated i7 M70 xDrive will be offered in India.

The September 11 launch is expected to confirm the India-specific variants, specifications and pricing for the updated flagship sedan range.
