Bharat Mobility Global Expo to be an annual event; Auto Expo set to converge

The Bharat Mobility Global Expo will now become an annual event, with the biennial motor and component exhibitions organised by industry automotive industry associations SIAM and ACMA, set to converge.

Responding to a query from Autocar Professional on the future of biennial Auto Expo – the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal said “We will merge all automotive shows into the annual Bharat Mobility Show.”

Goyal was talking to the media post the culmination of the first Bharat Mobility Global Expo claiming it to be a “phenomenal success.”

“Every year Bharat Expo is going to be an institution and we are all going to work towards making this an annual event, which will help demonstrate the India story,” Goyal added.

The first edition of the Bharat Mobility Global Expo concluded on Friday. The event was organised by the Ministry of Commerce, in partnership with several other ministries and industry bodies such as SIAM, ACMA, Automotive Tyre Manufacturers’ Association, Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles, and NASSCOM.

The minister claimed for the first time ever so many different associations which are associated with the automotive industry converged on one platform and that too in a short span of “just two months”.

Over 1,000 exhibitors and around 1.3 lakh registered visitors participated in the three-day mega event held in Delhi.

Till last year, auto exhibitions were held as two separate events for OEMs and component makers, organised by the Society of India Automobile Manufacturers and Automotive Component Manufacturers Association, respectively once every two years.

Industry sources say the brand of Bharat Mobility Global Expo has been very well received and both the vehicle and component show are likely to converge under the same brand umbrella from 2025 onwards.

Given the Auto show for vehicle makers is spread over a week and may call for a larger infrastructure, whereas the show for component makers is spread over only a couple of days, the venues may be spread to multiple different locations – namely the Pragati Maidan and Yashobhoomi in Dwarka at the India International Convention Centre.

“The first edition of Bharat Mobility Global Expo has been a resounding success. Considering that all elements of the mobility ecosystem displayed their capabilities in unison, it makes sense going forward for all stakeholders to collaborate in a similar seamless fashion under the aegis of Bharat Mobility Expo,” ACMA President Shradha Suri Marwah told Autocar Professional.
