Bajaj Auto domestic sales down 20% at 2,05,100 units August

Bajaj Auto, the two- and three-wheeler manufacturer, on Friday reported domestic sales of 2,05,100 vehicles in the month of August. This was 20% lower than 2,56,755 units sold in August 2022, due to a high base.

Total wholesales (domestic+exports) during the last month also dropped 15% to 3,41,648 units from 4,01,595 units, while total exports declined 6% to 1,36,548 units from 1,44,840 units, YoY.

Lower sales in August were largely due to a 31% drop in domestic two-wheeler sales at 1,60,820 units as compared to 2,33,838 units in the same month last year.

Meanwhile, total dispatches of commercial vehicles (CV) increased 23% to 56,617 units from 45,970 units, YoY.

Domestic sales of CV in August 2023 almost doubled to 44,280 units from 22,917 units in August last year, while CV exports fell 46% to 12,337 units from 23,053 units, YoY.
