AXISCADES Unit Bags Rs 150 Crore Contract for Su-30 Fighter Jet Upgrades
Mistral Solutions to develop electronic control units for cooling systems in Air Force modernization program
Defense technology company AXISCADES Technologies has secured a major contract worth Rs 150 crore through its subsidiary Mistral Solutions to supply electronic control units for the Indian Air Force's Su-30MKI "Super-30" fighter jet upgrade program.
Mistral Solutions received the development contract from CASDIC (Combat Aircraft System Development and Integration Centre) to develop 10 prototype electronic control units for cooling systems in the Su-30MKI upgrade program. The initial order will be followed by production of an estimated 600 units over five years, according to company statements released Sunday.
The contract represents a significant milestone in India's comprehensive modernization program for 84 Su-30MKI fighter jets under the "Super-30" initiative, which aims to incorporate domestically engineered technologies. The program seeks to extend the operational life of the aircraft and ensure they remain capable of executing air superiority, ground attack, and electronic warfare missions.
The cooling system electronic control units are part of broader upgrades planned for 51 systems, including 30 by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), 13 by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), and 8 by private sector companies. The overall upgrade includes integrating Indian-made avionics, radar systems, and mission computers, with the DRDO-developed Uttam Active Electronically Scanned Array radar enhancing detection capabilities.
"We are proud and excited to be a part of one of the DRDO's/IAF's most important modernization programs. This order reflects AXISCADES' ability to design and deliver advanced indigenous technologies tailored to evolving combat requirements," said C. Manikandan, CEO of Mistral Solutions.
The contract supports India's Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) initiative by increasing indigenous content in defense systems. Mistral Solutions, founded in 1997, was acquired by AXISCADES Technologies in December 2022 and specializes in embedded product design and development services.
The Su-30MKI Super-30 modernization program is valued at Rs 66,829 crore overall, making it one of India's largest fighter aircraft upgrade initiatives. The upgrades are scheduled to commence in 2026, with the enhanced aircraft expected to maintain operational relevance against evolving regional threats.
AXISCADES Technologies, listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange, operates across 17 global locations with over 3,000 professionals. The company maintains partnerships with defense forces, the Ministry of Defence, and defense laboratories, focusing on weapon systems, avionics, radar, and electronic warfare solutions.
The Bengaluru-headquartered company's defense portfolio includes projects in land, naval, aerospace, and homeland security systems. The cooling system contract adds to its growing presence in India's defense manufacturing ecosystem as the country seeks to reduce dependence on foreign military technology.
