Audi India is set to expand its flagship SUV portfolio with the launch of the SQ8 on March 17. The new performance-oriented variant will sit between the standard Audi Q8 and the range-topping Audi RS Q8 in the company’s India line-up. The SQ8 is expected to be priced at around Rs 1.9 crore (ex-showroom), positioning it between the Q8 at Rs 1.13 crore and the RS Q8 at Rs 2.34 crore.
The SQ8 shares its 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine with the RS Q8, though in a detuned state. In the SQ8, the motor produces 507hp and 770Nm of torque, compared to 640hp and 850Nm in the RS Q8. For reference, the standard Q8 is powered by a 3.0-litre turbo-petrol engine delivering 340hp and 500Nm. The SQ8 comes paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels. Audi claims the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in 4.1 seconds, which is 0.5 seconds slower than the RS Q8.

Visually, the SQ8 gets distinct styling elements to set it apart from the other variants. It features a silver surround for the large front grille, along with silver detailing on the grille inserts, bumper air inlets, ORVM housings, rear bumper trim and side elements. LED Matrix headlamps are offered up front. Internationally, the SQ8 rides on 21-inch alloy wheels as standard, with 22-inch wheels available as an option. In select markets, carbon-ceramic brake discs are also offered. The overall silhouette remains unchanged from the standard model.
Inside, the SQ8 gets an all-black cabin theme with leather and Alcantara upholstery. ‘S’ badging on the seats and steering wheel, stainless steel pedals, an aluminium footrest and illuminated door sills add to the sport-focused ambience. The SUV continues with Audi’s twin-screen MMI infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display with S-specific graphics. Other features are expected to include multi-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, head-up display, Bang & Olufsen sound system, and powered front seats with heating, ventilation and massage functions. The final feature list for India will depend on the company’s chosen specification.
