Ather Energy expands International presence with first experience centre in Colombo

Ather Energy Limited, a leader in the EV two-wheeler industry in India, has inaugurated its first Experience Centre, Ather Space, in Colombo, Sri Lanka. This marks Ather’s entry into its second international market, following its expansion into Nepal in November 2023. The Experience Centre will allow Sri Lankan customers to test ride and purchase Ather’s flagship scooter, the Ather 450X, which is positioned in the performance segment.

The Experience Centre was launched in partnership with Evolution Auto Pvt. Ltd., a joint venture between Sensei Capital Partners, Atman Group, and Sino Lanka Private Limited. As Ather’s national distributor in Sri Lanka, Evolution Auto will manage sales, service operations, and network expansion. The company will also work on establishing Ather Grid fast-charging stations across Sri Lanka, supporting the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) and providing a smoother experience for customers.

Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer of Ather Energy Limited, expressed enthusiasm about entering the Sri Lankan market with the Ather 450X. He emphasized the scooter's performance features, such as its acceleration, maneuverability, and handling, which are well-suited for navigating city routes and diverse terrains. Phokela noted that while the EV market in Sri Lanka is still emerging, Ather is excited to contribute to its development and sees the country as a key part of its global expansion strategy.

Dhiren Kundanmal, Director of Evolution Auto Pvt. Ltd., commented on the significance of the Experience Centre, highlighting the company’s focus on innovation and sustainability in mobility. He invited customers in Colombo to experience Ather’s technology and be a part of a greener future.

Ather Energy entered its first international market, Nepal, in 2023. By October 31, 2024, it had established five Experience Centres and 16 Ather Grid fast-charging stations in Nepal. In India, Ather has 239 Experience Centres across 175 cities and over 2000 Ather Grid fast-charging stations. Ather also operates two manufacturing plants in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, with an upcoming third facility in AURIC, BIDKIN, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra.

Ather Energy offers a range of electric scooters designed for urban mobility, with a focus on performance, design, and efficiency. The company's flagship scooter, the Ather 450X, is a high-performance electric scooter that features advanced technology and modern design elements. It is equipped with a 6 kW peak power motor, offering impressive acceleration and a top speed of 80 km/h. The 450X is powered by a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 2.9 kWh, providing a range of up to 85 km on a single charge, depending on the riding conditions and usage. The scooter also comes with multiple riding modes, including Sport, Ride, and Eco, allowing users to customize their riding experience based on their needs.

The Ather 450X features a 7-inch touchscreen dashboard that provides real-time information on speed, battery status, navigation, and riding statistics. The dashboard also includes Bluetooth connectivity, allowing riders to connect their smartphones to the scooter and access various features, such as over-the-air (OTA) updates, remote diagnostics, and ride history. The scooter is equipped with regenerative braking, which helps recharge the battery while decelerating, contributing to the overall efficiency.

Both models are equipped with a robust fast-charging system, enabling users to recharge up to 80% of the battery in just 1 hour at Ather Grid fast-charging stations. The scooters are designed to offer a combination of performance, style, and sustainability, making them suitable for daily commuting in urban environments.
