Ashok Leyland’s total vehicle sales, including exports, rose 38% year-on-year to 21,038 units in August 2026, compared with 15,239 units a year earlier, according to the company’s sales data. Cumulative sales for April-August stood at 89,391 units, up 20% from 74,541 units in the year-ago period.
Medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) trucks recorded the highest sales among the company’s categories, with volumes rising 60% to 10,748 units in August from 6,738 units a year earlier. Cumulative M&HCV truck sales increased 32% to 44,511 units from 33,787 units.
M&HCV Bus Sales: Growth in August, Decline Over Five Months
M&HCV bus sales, including exports, increased 12% year-on-year to 2,971 units in August from 2,643 units. However, cumulative sales declined 17% to 10,902 units from 13,194 units in the corresponding period last year.
Total M&HCV sales, including trucks and buses, rose 46% to 13,719 units in August. For April-August, the category recorded sales of 55,413 units, an 18% increase from 46,981 units a year earlier.
LCV Sales Rise 25% in August 2026
Light commercial vehicle (LCV) sales increased 25% to 7,319 units in August from 5,858 units. Cumulative LCV sales rose 23% to 33,978 units from 27,560 units.
Domestic Sales Climb 43% as Truck Demand Firms Up
In the domestic market, Ashok Leyland sold 19,438 vehicles in August, up 43% from 13,622 units a year earlier. Domestic cumulative sales increased 22% to 83,720 units from 68,350 units.
Domestic M&HCV truck sales rose 60% to 10,285 units in August, while LCV sales increased 25% to 7,030 units. Total domestic M&HCV sales rose 55% to 12,408 units.
