Ashok Leyland on Tuesday reported a net profit of Rs 796 crore for the third quarter ended December FY26, up 4% year-on-year, despite a one-time charge of Rs 308 crore towards the new Labour Code. Revenue from operations rose 22% to Rs 11,534 crore, compared with Rs 9,479 crore in the same period last year.
Profit before tax increased 38% to Rs 1,373 crore during the quarter. EBITDA stood at Rs 1,535 crore, up 27% from Rs 1,211 crore a year ago. EBITDA margin improved to 13.3%, compared with 12.8% in Q3 FY25. The company said this marked its 12th consecutive quarter of double-digit EBITDA margins.
Medium and heavy commercial vehicle (MHCV) volumes rose 23% to 32,929 units, from 26,692 units in the year-ago quarter. Light commercial vehicle (LCV) volumes grew 30% to 20,518 units, compared with 15,754 units last year. Export volumes increased 20% to 4,965 units.
The company reported net cash of Rs 2,619 crore at the end of the quarter, compared with Rs 958 crore at the end of Q3 FY25.
Ashok Leyland’s domestic MHCV market share remained above 30% during the quarter. In the bus segment, it held a 40% market share.
During the quarter, the company launched its HIPPO and TAURUS range in the tipper and tractor trailer segments. Its Defence, Power Solutions and Aftermarket businesses continued to contribute to overall performance.
Management said improving freight demand and supportive macroeconomic conditions have aided the commercial vehicle cycle, with expectations of continued growth in the medium term.
