Ashok Leyland has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Government of Haryana to establish an Institute of Driving Training and Research in Ambala, Haryana. The project is designed to enhance professional driver training, promote road safety, and expand skilled employment opportunities within the transport and logistics sector.

The agreement was formalized by Shri Atul Dwivedi, Transport Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Haryana, and Dharmendra Pal Singh, Head of the Driver Training Institute at Ashok Leyland. Spanning approximately 13 acres, the upcoming campus will provide practical, scientific, and professional training for operators of both Heavy Motor Vehicles and Light Motor Vehicles.

Once operational, the institute will possess the capacity to train around 2,000 new drivers and 20,000 existing drivers every year. The facility will house digital classrooms, advanced simulators, live engine and transmission demonstration areas, medical infrastructure, and hostel accommodations. Specialized driving tracks are said to be able to replicate real-world operating conditions.

"A skilled and responsible driver is at the heart of a safe and efficient transportation ecosystem," said Shenu Agarwal, Managing Director and CEO of Ashok Leyland. "Our partnership with the Government of Haryana to establish this modern Institute of Driving Training and Research in Ambala is another significant step in that journey."
