Aprilia has launched the SXR GT 125 and SXR GT 175 in India, effectively reviving its SXR maxi-scooter range after the SXR 125 and SXR 160 were discontinued in May.

The new SXR GT models are based on the same platform as the SR 125 and SR 175 and use the updated engines introduced on those scooters. Prices start at Rs 1.11 lakh for the SXR GT 125 and go up to Rs 1.31 lakh for the SXR GT 175. Bookings for both models are now open across India.

SXR GT Gets Larger 14-Inch Wheels

While the discontinued SXR scooters used 12-inch wheels, the new SXR GT range gets 14-inch wheels at both ends. Aprilia says the larger wheels should improve stability and comfort.

The overall maxi-scooter silhouette has been retained, although the new models share their underlying platform with the corresponding SR scooters.

SXR GT 125 and 175 Engine Specifications

The SXR GT 125 uses a 124.5cc single-cylinder engine producing 10.6hp at 7,400rpm and 10.4Nm at 6,200rpm.

The SXR GT 175 gets a larger 174.7cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine, producing 13.3hp at 7,200rpm and 14.1Nm at 6,000rpm.

Both engines are BS6 OBD-II Stage B compliant and compatible with E20 fuel.

SXR GT 175 Gets More Equipment

The SXR GT 175 gets a 5-inch TFT instrument display with Bluetooth connectivity, allowing music and call management. It also gets turn-by-turn navigation and additional handlebar-mounted controls. Braking is handled by single-channel ABS, while the scooter also gets a new exhaust end pipe with a heat shield.

The SXR GT 125 instead gets a 5-inch LCD instrument cluster and combined braking system (CBS).
