The Association of Indian Forging Industry (AIFI) recently organised a session on "Innovative Technology Solutions and Skill Development" in Pune, addressing the forging sector's evolving needs. Bringing together leaders and stakeholders, the event centred on the latest technological advancements and workforce upskilling strategies.
Key discussions highlighted technology’s role in advancing the forging industry, with presentations on CNC skill development using advanced simulators and the transformative impact of 3D printing on forging processes. Prof. Dr. Prabhat Ranjan, Vice Chancellor of D.Y. Patil International University, discussed the importance of integrating forging technology into engineering curriculums and enhancing industry professionals' skills through academia-industry collaboration.
The session also covered energy price risk management, underscoring operational efficiency in the industry. Participants emphasised the need for technological investment and youth skill development to tackle the sector's high-skilled labour shortage in advanced manufacturing.
Established in 1965, the AIFI is India’s oldest and largest forging industry association, representing over 200 members. AIFI plays a critical role in the country’s manufacturing sector, supporting key industries such as automotive, power, and engineering by producing essential components like crankshafts, camshafts, steering parts, and industrial valves.
