‘It is my cause to increase diversity on the TKM shopfloor’: Manasi Kirloskar Tata

Manasi Kirloskar Tata, the Vice Chairperson of Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) and the daughter of late Vikram Kirloskar, the promoter of the Kirloskar Grouphas big shoes to fill in at the Japanese automaker's joint venture setup in India.

As TKM has planned a mega investment of over Rs 20,000 crore in a new 850-acre plant in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra, the move is being seen as a sign of Toyota Motor Corporation’s long-term commitment to India. As per Tata, “We are all in it with Toyota. If they were not in it for the long run, we would not have these expansions.”

Tata, who has started being actively involved in TKM’s decision making after her father and industry veteran Vikram Kirloskar’s demise in 2023, acknowledges that it is hard to fill in the shoes of her late father. “I would like to carry forward my father's mission of inclusive growth that focuses on making even the suppliers grow their competence and export to other Toyota facilities globally,” she says.

“Being a woman, it would be my cause to increase the diversity on the shopfloor as well as in other administrative roles across the organisation. That would be my proposition to the company,” Tata says in this video.
