Yokohama India targets growing off-road market with Geolandar mud terrain tyres

Yokohama India has introduced Mud Terrain (M/T+) tyres in its Geolandar series in the Indian market. Specifically designed for off-roading duties, the company says the Geolandar M/T+ is well equipped to deflect lateral impacts during extreme conditions. Off-roading activity requires driving or riding a vehicle on unsurfaced roads or tracks made of materials such as sand, gravel, riverbeds, mud, snow, rocks, and other natural terrain.

Designed for high performance and maximum visual impact, the Mud Terrain tyres are currently available in two sizes -- 31X10.50R15 and 33X12.50R15. The tyre has new dual protection bars added to enhance cut and puncture resistance while its stepped central groove enhances surface grip.

According to Takeshi Fujino, MD, Yokohama India, “Off-roading is increasingly becoming popular as a new weekend adventure sport, particularly among young professionals and high net worth individuals. The Geolandar M/T+ has been built with many interesting features that makes it the best companion to go off-roading with. Its twin-cut groove design also enhances traction for even better overall control while enhancing surface grip.”

Yokohama India recently inaugurated its first India manufacturing unit at Bahadurgarh. Built with an investment of over Rs 300 crore, this new plant will manufacture Earth-1 tyres designed to cater to the comfort and economy segment.
