Yamaha sales rise on scooter boost, cross 50,000 in October

Mumbai, November 6, 2013: Yamaha Motor India Sales has crossed the 50,000 units sales mark last month, thereby recording a growth of 32 percent in domestic sales during October 2013.

Mumbai, November 6, 2013: Yamaha Motor India Sales has crossed the 50,000 units sales mark last month, thereby recording a growth of 32 percent in domestic sales during October 2013. Consequently, it has recorded a 35 percent average growth rate in the past 10 months. The sales were boosted by Yamaha’s Ray and Ray Z scooters, the company said in a statement.

The company has also been very active in expanding its network and has inaugurated three new dealerships this month in Bhopal covering the central region, Kolkata in the East and Mumbai. It has also announced their national campaign featuring its brand ambassador Deepika Padukone titled ‘Celebrate with me, on a Yamaha’ this month.

Yamaha’s October sales were 51,808 units in October 2013 as against 39,368 units sold in October last year in the domestic market thereby. In the export markets, it sold 12,744 units in October 2013 as compared to 10,154 units sold in October 2012, up 25.5 percent. Overall sales stood at 64,552 units in October 2013 while 49,522 units were sold in October 2012, up 30.3 percent overall growth.

Roy Kurian, vice-president, Yamaha Motor India Sales, said, “ This festive season we are extremely positive about our special edition FZ series motorcycle, new scooters Ray Precious Edition and Ray Z. The scooter segment has also really caught on and is expected to be the growth driver for the two-wheeler industry.”
