Yamaha Motor India is increasing production from 350 units per day to 500 units per day at its Surajpur facility in Greater Noida. This spurt in production will help the company to meet surging demand for its newly launched FZ-16 model which already has 22,000 orders.

With this increase the company expects to produce 25,000 units of the FZ-16 upto December 2008 and reduce the current waiting period of 30 days.

Yamaha is targeting a market share of 10 percent of the Indian bike market by 2010 and will invest nearly Rs 800 crore in upgrading its plant, increased marketing activities and dealership expansion for the next three years. It also plans to have about 1,500 dealers and sub-dealers in the country to support its growth. Buoyed by the positive response to its new models, Yamaha plans to launch two more models by the next financial year.
