World’s highest EV charging station opens at Kaza
Pune-based start-up goEgoNetwork, which specialises in electric vehicle charging infrastructure, has installed Bharat AC and Dual Socket Type 2 chargers at Kaza, Spiti Valley in the western Himalayas. At 3,800 metres above sea level, this makes it the world’s highest EV charging station.
The Bharat AC and Dual Socket Type 2 chargers have Make-in-India certification and compliance with ARAI and OCA certification. The charging station is located at Hotel Dayzor and can charge all electric scooters and cars.
The EV charging station was inaugurated on World Zero-Emission Day (September 21) by Mahender Pratap Singh, SDM Kaza and goEgoNetwork’s Maanvi Rawlley and Pratiksha Das, who rode TVS iQube electric scooters from Manali to Kaza. They partnered with TVS Motor Company to promote the EV infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh.
Singh said, “Himachal Pradesh government is keen to promote zero-emission and sustainability towards a greener future.”
“The adoption of EVs is growing in India, and a strong network of charging stations is required for a rapid transition to electric mobility. Our objective is to provide the best charging experience for everyone who wants to participate in this sustainable change. While we are excited about the installation of the charging station on one of the highest motorable roads, we look forward to installing a lot more in the near future,” said Dheeman Kadam, co-founder and CMO of goEgoNetwork
