Wheelabrator conducts seminar in Gurgaon on shot peening technology for the auto industry

New Delhi, July 04, 2013: Wheelabrator, which supplies surface preparation technology and a range of airblast, wheelblast and mass finishing solutions, recently organised a technical seminar on shot peening technology in June at Gurgaon.

Shot peening is used widely to enhance the fatigue resistance of highly stressed metallic components. This in turn, improves the performance of safety-critical components. Any metallic component that is subjected to cyclic stresses within its elastic limit can benefit from the shot peening process.

The session mainly focused on influencing factors for peening, how shot peening technology aids in better performance and longevity in automotive parts which are subject to cyclic loading including clutch, engine parts, gears, transmission and suspension parts. A brief on high end wheel and air peening solutions was also presented.

The seminar saw participation of over 45 delegates from across 27 companies. They represented companies like Hero MotoCorp, Hi Tech Gears, Escorts, M&M Auto, Jamna Auto, Techno Springs, Amtek and Sona Okegawa.

The technical session was conducted by Jagadish Kulkarni, VP – Sales & Marketing (Wheel & Air), Jayanth Murthy, GM – Sales (Wheel & Air), Niraj Palsapure, Head – Sales (Wheel & Air) and Sanjay Dutt Purohit, Head – Sales (Wheel & Air, North) of DISA India.

“Automotive is a very important industry for Wheelabrator. We are honoured to host this technical seminar, as this will further enhance the efficiency of the auto industry by educating stakeholders on the latest technology used. We will continue to organise such seminars and update the industry on the latest solutions being developed by DISA which may enable the auto industry to reach greater heights”, commented Jagadish Kulkarni, VP – Sales & Marketing,(Wheel & Air), DISA India.
