Volkswagen India celebrates a year of Taigun with anniversary edition

Launched on September 23, 2021, the Taigun SUV has sold 24,542 units till end-August 2022 and has given VW India a new charge in the competitive Indian marketplace.

Volkswagen Passenger Cars India has introduced the First Anniversary Edition of its Taigun SUV. The company had launched the Taigun on September 23, 2021 at an introductory price of Rs 10.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

As per Autocar Professional’s statistics, the Taigun has sold close to 25,000 units in its first year – 24,542 units comprising 16,889 units in FY2022 and 7,653 units in the April-August 2022 period. The Taigun SUV has helped Volkswagen India to increase its utility vehicle share to 1.1% in India’s very competitive marketplace

The Taigun special edition is offered on the Dynamic Line, Topline variant available on the 1.0 TSI MT and AT. The SUV gets sportier look with its ‘1st” anniversary’ badging across the exterior and interior. It also gets 11 specially developed elements including high lux fog lamps, body-colored door garnish, black C-pillar graphics, black roof foil, door-edge protector, black ORVM caps, window visors along with aluminium pedals. The First Anniversary Taigun Edition is sold in a vibrant new colour ‘Rising Blue’ along with Curcuma Yellow and Wild Cherry Red.

Petrol power and high on safety
The Taigun has two TSI turbo-petrol engine options – a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder unit that produces 115hp and 175Nm of torque and a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder unit that’s good for 150hp and 250Nm. Both engines come with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. However, they get different automatic gearbox options, with the 1.0 TSI getting a 6-speed torque converter and the 1.5 TSI getting a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The 1.5 TSI engine also features fuel-saving cylinder deactivation technology.

The Taigun comes with a full range of 40+ safety features such as Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), up to 6 airbags, multi-collision brakes, reverse camera, ISOFIX, tyre pressure deflation warning system. In addition, it is equipped with 3 adjustable headrests at the rear along with 3-point seatbelts that keep the occupants secure.
