Volkswagen opens new dealership in Mumbai
Volkswagen India has inaugurated its new dealership in Mumbai – Volkswagen Mumbai North, Mody Auto Corp.
Volkswagen Mumbai North has a capacity to display seven cars in its dealership at Borivali (West) and has a 14-bay workshop on Mira Road in Mumbai. This new facility will host state-of-the-art accident repair and body paint workshop.
Speaking at the inauguration, Michael Mayer, director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, said: “Mumbai is an important market for Volkswagen and the opening of this dealership underlines our commitment to strengthening our presence in this region.”
With this new showroom, Volkswagen now has six operational facilities in Mumbai and expects to continue expanding its reach in accordance with customer demand and requirement. Overall, the carmaker which offers the Polo, Vento and Jetta in India, now has 122 operational facilities in 106 cities across India.
In September 2014, Volkswagen India sold 4,089 cars, down 9.52 percent on its sales a year ago. For the half-year (April-September), it has sold a cumulative 20,274 units, down 30.33 percent year on year, as per SIAM industry sales data.
