TVS resumes production at Hosur, Mysore and Nalagarh plants

Two- and three-wheeler OEM restarts operations at its Hosur, Mysore and Nalagarh plants.

TVS Motor Co has, in a regulatory filing, confirmed that it has commenced manufacturing operations across its plants in Hosur (Tamil Nadu), Mysore (Karnataka) and Nalagarh (HImachal Pradesh). While the Hosur plant has a manufacturing capacity of 2.5 million units per annum, the Mysore facility has 1.7 million units per annum.  

According to the company, "A comprehensive preparedness manual has been designed for employees to ensure complete adherence to necessary safety guidelines to help minimise the spread of the virus. At all its manufacturing facilities, the company has undertaken exhaustive measures to ensure safe workplace for employees with appropriate social distancing and highest standards of hygiene. Work from Home option also continues for certain category of people, in adherence to respective state government guidelines."

In FY2020, TVS Motor Co sold a total of 24,10,755 two-wheelers, down 23 percent year on year, in the domestic market, giving it a 13.84% overall market share. These comprised 10,18,424 scooters for an 18.30% scooter market share and 7,55,391 bikes, which gives it a 6.74% motorcycle market share. Two-wheeler exports at 678,841 units marked a YoY growth of 9.14 percent for the company.

TVS also sold 11,934 three-wheelers (-28.58%) in the domestic market and exported another 161,977 units (15.93%).
