TVS Motor expands presence in Colombia, partners Auteco SAS for distribution

Autotecnica Colombiana SAS (Auteco SAS) will operate 50 dealerships exclusive to TVS Motor and create dedicated space for the brand in over 600 retail outlets.

TVS Motor Company has announced new distribution partnership with Colombia's leading motorcycle assembler, Autotecnica Colombiana SAS (Auteco SAS).Autotecnica Colombiana SAS will operate 50 dealerships exclusive to TVS Motor and create dedicated space for the brand in over 600 retail outlets.

Further, Autotecnica Colombiana SAS will support TVS Motor with dedicated sales, service, spares and customer relationship management (CRM). Also, Autotecnica Colombiana SAS will provide the brand with an assembly set-up in Cartagena along with a dedicated training centre. 

Commenting on the partnership, R Dilip, Executive Vice President - International Business, TVS Motor Company, said, “The association is a strategic step towards offering mobility solutions which improve the quality of life for our customers.” As a part of this association, TVS Motor will be introducing new segments among two-wheelers ranging from moped, scooters, motorcycles to premium motorcycles along with three-wheelers. According to the company statement, it will focus on creating customised as well as a wide portfolio of mobility solutions for the Colombian market. 

Carlos Duran, President of Autotecnica Colombiana SAS added that, " The technology and quality prowess of TVS Motor Company combined together with our network facility will definitely create an impact in the Colombian market.” 

The global pandemic impacted TVS Motor's exports markets including LATAM, Asia, Africa, South-east Asia and many of these are currently in recovery mode. TVS’ two-wheeler exports stood at 58,888 units in August 2020. (August 2019: 56,323 units). Overall, the two-wheeler major reported total domestic market sales of 277,226 units in August 2020, which is flat on a year on year basis (August 2019:  275,851). The marginal uptick is due to demand for its motorcycles, which saw sale of 119,878 units in August 2020 (August 2019: 109,393). Scooter sales comprised 87,044 units as against 109,272 units in August 2019.
