TVS Motor Company has revealed plans to launch four new models before the end of 2013. In a bid to get back some of the lost footing in the Indian two-wheeler market, the company will also eventually reduce the number of parts it requires across its product range by 40 percent in the next four years’ time.

Speaking to Autocar Professional at the launch of its newest product – the Phoenix 125 – in Chennai on September 28, chairman Venu Srinivasan said that the 125cc bike is the beginning of a fresh product offensive that will see a new product being launched every quarter till the end of 2013. Next in line is a revival of the erstwhile Victor which will be launched in August 2013, production for which will begin in June.

Srinivasan also said that the company will not require a new facility to manufacture the upcoming models, adding that “we will increase the capacity of our existing three facilities.”

The industry veteran also revealed that the company will cut costs by reducing its number of two-wheeler platforms to two from the current four. The Phonix 125 is priced at Rs 51,000 (ex-showroom, Chennai) for the drum brake variant and Rs 53,000 (ex-showroom, Chennai) for the disc brake variant.
