Get ready to witness some thrilling moments on two wheels tomorrow. The Republic Day parade of the Indian armed forces on Rajpath on January 26 each year is the largest and most spellbinding parade that marks Republic Day celebrations in India.

Border Security Force riders astride Royal Enfields typically put up a cracking display of tw-wheeled excellence on Republic Day (PIB).

The parade, which sees a massive turnout of people gather early in the morning, is a splendid showcase of India’s military strength and the men and women who staff it. Along with the crisply marching men and women in uniform, what people also look forward to are the screaming Sukhoi fighter jets and the intrepid motorcycle riders of the Border Security Force, called the Daredevils.

These stunt riders will again show off their well-honed skills on two wheels which include the ‘human pyramid’ and lotus formation. But this time around, there will be one marked departure from tradition. For the first time, stunt riders will wow their audiences not only from the saddles of Royal Enfield motorcycles, as they traditionally have, but also from those of a motorcycle that is purely Indian in its heritage and development – the TVS Apache RTR 180.

The Motorcycle Display Team of the Military Police, popularly known as ‘Shwet Ashwa’, will jump through rings of fire and balance on a single wheel, among other physics-defying stunts, on four Apache RTR 180s. Shwet Ashwa has been trained to use the Apache RTR 180s by TVS Motor Co as well as Team Balance Point, a collective of well-known stunt riders from Karnataka. You should really be looking forward to the parade tomorrow, because Shwet Ashwa also holds a Guinness World record and has performed at the Asian Games.
