Toyota looks to accelerate Glanza sales, launches new entry-level variant

New G MT variant priced at Rs 698,000 is Rs 24,000 cheaper than the Glanza; Glanza draws three times more first-time Toyota buyers as compared to other Toyota models.

Having sold 11,499 Glanzas in four months since the hatchback’s launch in early June, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is now looking to accelerate sales of the car, which is the rebadged Maruti Baleno and manufactured by Maruti Suzuki India for Toyota in India.

TKM has today announced the rollout of new entry-level variant G-MT (Manual) priced at Rs 698,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). This is Rs 24,000 cheaper than the Glanza G priced at Rs 722,000 (Rs 721,900 ex-showroom, Delhi).

The new G-MT variant is powered by the same 83hp, 1.2-litre K12B petrol engine and mated to a five-speed manual transmission. TKM is offering a three-year, 100,000km warranty extendable up to five years and 220,000km along with the ‘Toyota Ownership’ experience, Q-Service app utilisstion and Toyota Connect facilities, apart from finance schemes.

Speaking on the launch of the new variant, N Raja, Deputy Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, “We are happy that the Glanza backed by Toyota’s unique sales and service efficiency, has been able to delight the millennial young generation, mainly the first-time Toyota buyers.  We are closely evaluating millennial customer needs and will keep upgrading our products and services to cater to young car owners. We are introducing an entry level variant at Rs 698,000 to expand the range of options. With focused marketing activities we have been able to attract three times more first-time Toyota buyers for the Glanza as compared to other Toyota models. Also, apart from first time buyers it has helped us provide additional car to our existing customers suited to their needs.”

Bookings for the new Glanza G-MT variant have commenced.
