Toyota launches face-lifted Etios, Etios Liva, standardises driver and front passenger airbags

In an effort to inject new life into its Etios sedan and Etios Liva hatchback sales, Toyota Kirloskar Motor has launched the face-lifted Etios and Etios Liva.

Prominent changes on the face-lifted versions of the two cars include a brand-new design for the grille and front airbags as standard on all the trims. Other additions, as per trim levels, include a seatbelt warning indicator, electrically-adjustable wing mirrors, reversing sensors, new fabric seats, and faux-wood finish for armrests.

Speaking at the launch in Bangalore today, N Raja, senior vice-president and director (Sales & Marketing), TKM, said, “We launched the Etios in 2010 and since then have been enhancing the product with upgrades, limited editions and variants.

“Toyota is constantly working towards developing better technology to provide enhanced safety. With increased accidents and growing concerns on safety, as a first step we have standardised driver and passenger airbags for the Etios, Etios Liva and Etios Cross across all grades.”

The face-lifted models are a bid to cash in on the festive season, in a market primed with potent competitors. The Etios sedan takes on the likes of the Ford Fiesta, Nissan Sunny and Fiat Linea, while the Liva hatchback goes up against the Maruti Swift, Volkswagen Polo and the Hyundai Elite i20.

While the Etios sedan’s price ranges from Rs 574,081 and Rs.7,06,567 (petrol) and Rs 684,081 and Rs 8,16,567  (diesel), ex-showroom Delhi, the Etios Liva’s sticker price ranges from Rs 476,142 and Rs 6,57,105 (petrol) and Rs 594,642 and Rs 695,460 (diesel), ex-showroom Delhi.

TKM sold a total of 12,552 cars in September 2014, posting a 4.47 percnt year-on-year increase. Its cumulative half-year fiscal sales (April-September 2014) sales total 67,091 units, up 2.31 percent year on year.
