Aug 2, 2013: Tenneco India, the Indian subsidiary of Tenneco Inc has inaugurated a new, fully integrated, DynaChrome high-speed hard chromium plating facility for piston rods at its Hosur ride performance plant. The eco-friendly, zero-discharge facility is part of Tenneco India’s vertical integration strategy and will reduce the manufacturing lead time of piston rods – the most critical part of shock absorbers – in addition to saving water and energy.
Sagar Hemade, managing director, Tenneco India, said: “We are proud to commission such a facility that improves shock absorber quality and performance while improving our production process and shortening our time to market.”
DynaChrome is a fully integrated and closed looped plating system with a high rate of chrome deposition. The process is capable of plating the rod to the required size and does not require any post chrome grinding operation thus reducing the consumption of chrome and conserving energy. The piston rod plant employs 98 people in the manufacturing of piston rods for shock absorbers and struts. The facility supplies components for major domestic and international vehicle manufacturers.
