August 19, 2013: It is not the best time in the Indian economy to start a business but Dr Arun Jaura seems to believe otherwise. The industry veteran has started a technology and management consulting firm named Tracktion. The firm caters to mobility: on- and off-road, aerospace, farm and construction equipment, mechatronics, defence and energy sectors through innovative offerings.

Dr Jaura’s professional journey began in the early 1980s with a stint at the Defence Research & Development Organisation. He also served at Ford Motor Co (in Detroit), Mahindra & Mahindra and Eaton, before kick-starting Traktion.

Dr Jaura aims to provide 'out-of-the-box' engineering and management solutions for new entrants as well as established firms. “Unfortunately, today there’s a lot of powerpoint engineering taking place,” says Dr Jaura in his new role as managing director and founder of Traktion. He and his team of consultants aim to help clients with “prudent innovative solutions derived from real world consultancy techniques, pragmatic professional development, and technical and management services”.

Traktion will also work together with various independent R&D organisations as well as technical institutions such as IIT. At a later stage, Traktion may also invest in its own R&D set-up.

Traktion is headquartered in Mumbai with offices in New Delhi and Chennai. It also has overseas teams in Detroit and New York in the USA and Northampton in the UK.
